What exactly did Lewis "Scooter" Libby do?

Memory is such a useful thing. In general, the MSM/DNC opposes memory because (1) MSM/DNC needs to change the story [whatever the "story" is about] to suit its present day needs and (2) MSM/DNC has much to hide in any given situation.

In the Libby case, I found the following item from March, 2007:

Juror notes in the CIA leak case suggest some jury room confusion about what exactly former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby is accused of doing.

In their questions, which were released Tuesday morning, jurors seemed confused about what Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald was alleging. Were prosecutors saying Libby knew that Plame worked for the CIA by the time of his FBI interview, jurors asked, or does the government believe Libby's account of the Cooper conversation was untrue?

This story was released on the day the verdict was announced. As I wrote in March, the jury heard the entire trial without understanding what Libby was accused of.

But MSM/DNC outlets today dutifully report politicians' comments that Libby received clemency despite no doubt existing as to his guilt. But only a simple examination reveals that the jury was confused for good reason. Libby's detractors cannot tell you what exactly he did or why he was prosecuted (other than vague generalities relating to the Bush-Hitler-Halliburton-Diebold conspiracy).

MSM/DNC sources can say nothing about Libby that would not actually apply to Armmitage, Novak, Fitzgerald, Plame, Woodward and Wilson.

The same people who want Libby to serve jail time for some imagined offense want desparately to close Guantanamo and release the terrorists housed therein. By now, they will also start advocating increased immigration rights for muslim doctors.

Winter of 2007 - Des Moines/ Iowa blizzard - Interstate 80 shut down

This Winter, we have seen the Eastern and Northern U.S. crippled by the St. Valentine's day blizzard. We have seen rail and airline disruption, frozen rivers, and, even before St. Valentine's day, record cold temperatures. We have seen closed highways and stranded motorists. Buildings have collapsed.

Now, in March, we see a continuation of this bitter weather in Iowa:

Ice and blowing snow continued to cripple Iowa's highways Friday, leaving hundreds of motorists stranded and littering major roads with abandoned trucks and cars.

Hundreds of miles of highway were declared impassable, even for rugged four-wheel-drive vehicles.

State transportation officials said they couldn't remember a blizzard that closed so many roads for so long. This one started Thursday, less than a week after an ice storm caused one of the biggest electricity failures in state history.

The latest storm was blamed for a fatal traffic accident in eastern Iowa and for uncounted school closings and other interruptions.

Many of the worst problems were in western Iowa, where conditions turned so bad Thursday night that National Guard Humvees could not make their way onto Interstate Highway 80. Instead, volunteers on snowmobiles plucked people from their stranded cars, then ferried them up to eight miles to a relatively clear area, said Cass County Sheriff Bill Sage. The rescued motorists then boarded Humvees and local officials' trucks, which were escorted into Atlantic by snowplows.

I hate to be redundant about any topic, but this year's severe weather requires constant repetition because the bad weather will end and the "global warming" issue will heat up conveniently just as the temperatures begin their annual rise in Spring and Summer.

The Winter temperatures have human consequences that cannot simply be brushed away like so many other facts and issues that fall victim to the MSM/DNC memory hole. The best way to rescue facts from the memory hole is to remember those facts in stark terms, with photographs that evoke images of the bitterness that characterized the events in the first place.

An anniversary buried down the memory hole - 1998 embassy bombings

A big hat tip to the indispensable Debbie Schlussel, who reminds us of the terrorist bombings in East Africa on August 7, 1998. On that date, two U.S. embassies were bombed in Nairobi and Tanzania. More than 200 people were killed and thousands injured.

These bombings predated 9-11 by three years. At that time, there was still time to prevent 9-11. These and other bombings gave us all of the justification we needed to confront the terrorist threat head on. Clinton's response was to bomb an aspirin factory in Sudan. The Taliban remained in place in Afghanistan and Osama was free to use Afghanistan as a training base for another three years.




But the MSM/DNC, otherwise known as the Clinton Legacy Rehabilitation Project, has chosen to ignore this anniversary. Think of what you saw on the morning news programs today. Were most of the features even in the same ballpark as this item in terms of importance?

The slightest emphasis on today's anniversary would destroy the MSM/DNC meme, which blames George Bush for all terrorism. Even the slightest mention of this story would remind Americans that terrorism began BEFORE the U.S. led invasion of Iraq.

For the benefit of the left and the MSM/DNC, here is a chronology:

(1) Global terrorism occurred many times over the past thirty or more years.

(2) We began to fight back, including the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq.

(3) The MSM/DNC began a relentless campaign to reverse the order of ## 1 and 2 in the minds of the public. That is a very difficult task. Judging from the last election, this strategy has worked with only 47% of the voters.

That task requires the MSM/DNC to bury many facts down the memory hole. The victims in Nairobi and Tanzania are mere inconveniences to be forgotten in the MSM/DNC's mad rush to play politics and rewrite history.
